This USUALLY, (but not always) results in an initial drop in price. Others, like myself, KNOWING that this will take place, short the stock and that furthe excacebates the situation. Call it the bounce.
The large gains today reflect that sell off, followed by reinvestment all over the place. The rising tide lifts all boats.
It happens from time to time with stocks that adjusted down bouncing up, but not as often.
Having said thar, will there be a long term reduction in price for this particular stock? No one knows for sure, but the comments about frontloading would tend to mean for a long term trend of a less than 2.7 multiplier by the time it delists. After all, look at Frii vs Sat vs Sun. But then again, the horror genre usually does that.
One thing for sure at HSX, though, is that nothing is engraved in stone.
