I'm often tempted to go with my gut against the numbers, and I'm often wrong (but sometimes I'm right) ;-)
One of the hardest things I find with this game is when there is a film I'm really excited about and the tracking suggests is going to bomb, or a film I would rather have my eyes poked out than watch, but the tracking suggests is going to be successful. So as long as your gut is considering what the box office will be, not it's desire to see the film, go with it.
Bottom line is, it's a game, enjoy it - the successes and the failures.
