i thought they was talking bout pre adjust, the weeks leading up. if thats the case, then...
lets say FilmA is priced at $60. but 2-4 weeks before its released it drops to $30. Why? well its because we learn more about the film. reviews, marketing, tracking all start coming in just before a film gets released. so big swings start happening during that time. this is where you just need to really learn the game and why stocks do what they do.
if we continue example, lets say FilmA defies the bad odds and opens to $20M. it will adjust to $54 a share (20 * 2.7, thats a weekend multiplier. dont know what that is? then read the glossary at the bottom of these pages). so FilmA went from $60 to $30 to $54. so basically it went from hype (player perception) to potential to reality (actual box office).
Why will a major/wide release drop >20% within 2-4wks of OW? I see this over & over! Then regain market value. Jul 28, 11:10
