2 things: 1. i disagree with "So the loss on one, would cancel out the gain on the other.." Typically, calls and puts halt at differ. prices
example: invic call was 0.83, put was 3.56. someone max long on both (as I assume chimaera suggested) would only lose the player $8300 when the call cashes out at 0, and gains the player $80,000 something when the put cashes out at $11 or so.
I thought I heard someone long ago plays both at certain situations, because example here, if invic is a surprise breakout, a player could make out nicely on a call that was priced under a dollar$, and even tho, invic didnt do well, losing $8300 really isnt a big deal, for the chance to hit a surprise
