It's not a new suggestion, and has been discussed on the boards before Basically...
It would present a bunch of challenges to the way the game is played. For example, how do we deal with movies that open on different dates in different markets? What are the sources of information for VOD revenues? etc
And then, how would players incorporate this into their game? Where are players going to get good information on (for example) the Chinese box office? What do audiences over there want to see? HSX players as a group often have trouble valuing movies aimed at audiences they don't understand very well - and collectively I think we'll do just as poorly at valuing how movies will perform in China.
This bit is important, because HSX earns its crust by using our trades to infer how movie news will impact box office. If our (mostly North American) trades aren't much good at predicting the China box office, HSX isn't going to make money from a side-game about the China box office.
There are a bunch of things that HSX could be doing to make the game better and tap into new markets. For example, a smartphone app is another thing that comes up every so often. But to develop new features requires time, thought, effort and investment, and with HSX being a free game, it probably doesn't generate the revenues to justify them.
