I have been working since the age of 10, financially independent since 17. I had loser parents in a lousy hometown. I left at high school graduation and never went back, not for one night. I self-financed undergraduate and graduate degrees. Everyone in my current family works and (excepting the college sophomore) has at least one advanced degree. At least 20 percent of my working hours are devoted to pro bono work. I am disinclined to accept pointers on employment or time management -- or anything else -- from an ostensible adult whose self-described occupation is 'investor of family funds.'
