This is the answer. My portfolio is growing at a rate I have never seen before, and has sustained that growth since the move to 75K limits.
It's not due to smart trading on my part - I am a terrible day-trader and didn't even make the top 100 volume traders last week. It's definitely long-term holdings that have made the difference for me - in particular long-term shorts.
Go through your port and flip your biggest losers, especially if they have a clear downward trend on the price graph. It will cost you a whack of commission, but going forward your gains from stocks going up won't be offset by your losses from holding stocks goung down

Oh yeah, and many traders still don't get that: about 2/3 or so of all stocks should be held SHORT. Jan 10, 08:03
