Best Picture is not voted on by producers
Best Picture is the only category in which all Academy members vote to determine the nominees. In all other categories, only members of the respective branches (editing, directing, acting, etc.) vote to determine which movies will be nominated in those respective categories. The Social Network seemed like the front runner because it won lots of critics awards. The King's Speech, however, won the Producer's Guild Award. Since Best Picture goes to producers, that's a strong sign that it will win Best Picture. Also, Social Network has taken some hits with issues of accuracy (for example, Mark Zuckerberg has had the same girlfriend for years; they started dating before he started Facebook).
