In 2008 Iron Man (wk 2) crushed Speedracer (OW). I see something similar this weekend with Avengers and Dark Shadows. {nm} lhayes37 May 07, 12:49

Agreed. {nm} Tanker May 07, 12:51

Seriously don't get Shadows. Vampire as fish out of water in the 70s? Who exactly does that appeal to (under the age of 40)? {nm} infalliblesuperstar May 07, 12:54

somebody out there likes Depp and Burton... {nm} Catzan May 07, 12:57

it looks funny and all but compared to Avengers, it looks like a DVD/Blu Ray rental at best. {nm} thatpj May 07, 13:17

In 2008 the final score was Iron Man (wk 2) 51.19 - Speed Racer (OW) 18.56. {nm} lhayes37 May 07, 12:55

I remember that story. Estimates had Speed Racer beating What Happens In Vegas by a couple 100K. Jay_Beezy May 07, 13:24

Except Iron Man only opened with $98M, which meant an 52% drop. So, for AVNGR 52% of 207.1 = $108.1 {nm} elchan May 07, 14:03

Speedracer would have flopped anywhere on the release schedule, just like Dark Shadows. {nm} BionicMoron May 07, 13:01

I also see Avengers weekend 3 topping Battleship OW. {nm} Jay_Beezy May 07, 13:21

I don't think anyone expects otherwise. Avengers at 80 million or so, Dark Shadows at 40. {nm} MiyazakiFan May 07, 14:17

That seems about right to me. {nm} second gary May 07, 15:01
