AVATAR

while the Imax experience was all that and a bag of chips for me (a little bummed out by the partial 3d effects and at our location the full screen wasn't used) it was still a step above the normal 3D experience.

and while the storyline didn't blow me away, the visuals and the action put me in another world.  very well done, even after the repeated viewing.

BANDSLAM

came highly recommended by adrenalin112.  not too sure if its love of all things jailbait, or if he was just really really drunk, but the film felt long, distended and bloated with one too many songs and one too many close ups of the Dewey's face (which to me always seemed to have a weird sneer)

the plot points were telegraphed, but the movie wasn't with out some charm.  i wont lie, i lol'd a little bit, but i am not the target demo.  my daughter loved it and she with in kicking and screaming, but walked out humming tunes and sporting a big smile.

THE BLIND SIDE (another recommended flick by adrenalin112)

while it appealed to my football side quite nicely, and it did showcase some interesting assets by sandra bullock, i couldn't help but feel that they didn't quite stick the landing. people eviscerate Avatar for its cribbing, and yet this flick makes waaaaaay too much money and not a peep from the same community, oh well.  nice little movie.  didn't put me to sleep and was good enough to highly recommend.

Strange you didn't mention whether you saw Avatar in 3D or not, IMAX or not.... (?) Well, nevermind. {nm} Facto Dec 21, 10:00

Just 3d, no IMAX. Visually stunning but the story was horrible. Seeing it in IMAX wouldn't change the story {nm} skamanfu Dec 21, 10:41

And with all the praise given to this film no one can ever complain the next time Hollywood spoonfeeds them crap with great visuals {nm} skamanfu Dec 21, 10:43

It was made for 'all of the family' though, can't be too complex or have too much depth.Must connect on emotional level,I think it succeded. {nm} Facto Dec 21, 13:25
