I saw"Birdman" this afternoon, and it is a real treat. (spoilers)
I would only say that its pleasures do not culminate in the final scene, in the way that the pleasures of "Take Shelter," "Gravity," "Snowpiercer," "The Player," "Children of Men" or "All About Eve" do. The final sequence is arrowed at the final shot where Thomas's daughter looks to the sky and smiles, suggesting that what had previously been presented as his private experience is not a private experience at all, but one which can be shown to others. The final shot of "Take Shelter" is like that, too, flipping the story just barely into "folie a deux" territory, and I'm not sure quite yet how I feel about that.
