broadcast deal) so I think a really short window between theatrical and VOD would have worked and then as you suggest, work with platforms that gamers already visit and live. You can do $1.5 box in 250+ theaters (and you're not leaving much box on the table) with this and then $10+mil digitally in North America alone. Can you imagine steam (over 125 million users worldwide) with this on the flowcase front page or even the entire front page. I also kinda wonder what a bit torrent number could be. They have legit distribution now so you download a file and theres a paygate to the actual movie. some of our bigger release have done 6 mil downloads worldwide, so I think the number for this movie could be five - ten times that. at a 2% transaction rate, thats some serious cash. STX was right to partner with Twitch on this but they should have done more and worked with them to bring the movie directly to their audience so they can transact. One of the coolest things about the world we live in is you can consume the content on the exact same platform you use to transact it. No more going to Hollywood Video after getting milk from the grocery store and then bring the movie home and then having to bring it back. All this audience has to do is a push a few buttons and it starts playing. Look at the reaction of the ones that actually went to the theater. A- cinemascore. Real missed opportunity.
Full disclosure, we did try to buy this and these are just some of the ideas we pitched. This is speculation, but we were ready to put money where our mouths were. And we're good at this.
