Should be clear the fatigue isn't a huge part of the audience yet but it's growing and the next two marvel movies have some folks

Posted by: Moviesnob on May 28, 11:01 in response to lobogotti's post was talking with Snob the other day and he said these...

Worried at Disney that the fatigue could be more significant for those two especially when the doctor strange trailer got a number of complaints along the lines of "it looks just like matrix/inception". They are already aware of the overall fatigue and this is on top of that. This is also why hulk is in Thor 3. They were worried Thor could suffer a larger than expected drop off.Ā

BO has some four day projections, including: XMEN6 74.0, ALCN2 40.0, ANGRB 25.5 (70.1), CAPA3 21.0 (378.5) second gary May 28, 10:01

captain still losing ground to IM3. would never have expected that a couple days before opening, after lobogotti May 28, 10:12

This makes me angrier. If the title had been Avengers Civil War, would more people have come out OW? {nm} Jay_Beezy May 28, 10:21

Or maybe BvS made audiences sour on superhero v superhero movies. {nm} Jay_Beezy May 28, 10:22

was talking with Snob the other day and he said these films are starting to experience fatigue and he's right. lobogotti May 28, 10:25

I love the MCU but as it's gotten more frequent/episodic, I think the films feel less like major "events" Rioter May 28, 10:42

And also there's no clear endpoint in the marketing yet so a small but growing number don't feel an urgency to rush out Moviesnob May 28, 10:51

it has turned into a superhero serial...which I love personally....but it could be both a blessing and a curse... {nm} tealfan May 28, 10:55

...or maybe it's just settling into a more normal pace for the long run, BO-wise {nm} tealfan May 28, 10:56

Yes and the floor for these is still insanely profitable despite the costs going up after feige took over {nm} Moviesnob May 28, 11:03

agreed, I think serialization (vs just being a shared universe) helps launch C-list stuff (ANTMN) but also limits A-listers like CAPA3 {nm} Rioter May 28, 13:17

Serialization also increases frontloadedness, decreases repeat viewings, and makes it difficult for new viewers to jump in {nm} warcraft86 May 28, 17:42

i wonder if critics and audiences, disillusioned with BvS, overcompensated with the reviews, because really civil war was turrible islander May 28, 10:44

Rentrak approval ratings are really high. The masses really like the movie {nm} Moviesnob May 28, 10:48

90% critic, 91% users, #123 all time IMDb with 8.3 and 75 mets critic. One of the best received comic book films ever. {nm} lobogotti May 28, 11:00

I'm in the minority. While I enjoyed it, I thought it was vastly overrated and not even close to being one of the best comic book movies. ~JPV~ May 28, 11:07

and i dont know why. they are all wrong sorry to say! {nm} islander May 28, 11:08

I thought for the genre it was a solid film. maybe not as high as the majority favors, but better than a lot in the genre IMO {nm} lobogotti May 28, 11:12

Yes but solid is not one of the best comic book movies ever made. I personally gave it a B but felt CAPA2 was far better (A-, maybe an A) {nm} ~JPV~ May 28, 11:16

you're not alone on those thoughts... lobogotti May 28, 11:36

And legs lower than literally every other Marvel movie. Really strange run. {nm} reelreptile May 28, 11:13

Should be clear the fatigue isn't a huge part of the audience yet but it's growing and the next two marvel movies have some folks Moviesnob May 28, 11:01

it's the only plausible theory (fatigue) IMO. X-Men further proves it true. {nm} lobogotti May 28, 11:09

I thought the Matrix and Inception comparisons were complimentary for the most part. {nm} Jay_Beezy May 28, 11:39

i just came back from the new X-Men and people were cheering. Rare in these movies. I thought by far best in series. {nm} tradermark May 28, 12:59

Maybe people do not want to see a movie Dvdtalk_gcribbs May 28, 10:21

could be {nm} lobogotti May 28, 10:25

74 for XMEN6 is just unbelievably bad. Especially for those of us holding the OW long. {nm} skunkrunner May 28, 10:51

I'm holding it short and going to leave the cash out {nm} Quickslver99 May 28, 11:53

Mmmm... But what does Mike314 think of all this {nm} JMT-NL May 28, 12:19

Obviously Powerball is too blame for these low numbers {nm} IAM_rah May 28, 14:49

By the way johnyy depp divorce hurt alice {nm} mike255 May 28, 15:01

I doubt many people knew about it and those who did, didn't care. Fact is, the first one wasn't well received and... ~JPV~ May 28, 18:02

The first one was well received by audiences at the time having made over 300M. Jay_Beezy May 29, 12:08

No. But if this drags on, worry for Pirates. {nm} leo21 May 29, 16:44
