On Captain America and the John Krasinski haters

To "the Haters at large"

John Krasinski seems like the kind of actor who truly comprehends the art of cinema, and not just another dumb hunk with abs (see Taylor Lautner in Stretch Armstrong casting). Krasinski can bring some craft to the role of Captain America by virtue of his skills as a writer, director, and actor. This guy has talent as shown by his ability to do comedy, because "dying is easy, comedy is hard."

remember these three things,

1) You can't teach height. John Krasinski is the tallest of the people in the casting role call. Captain America needs to be tall.

2) Name recognition. The guy from the Office? You bet your **** people know him. That type of TV name recognition is much cheaper than Movie Blockbuster name recognition (ala Leo or Damon) and it's just as effective. And it's the transformation that is going to occur, from Jim to Steve Rogers, that is going be be so easy for people to understand in the marketing campaign before the release. Casting Krasinski makes Cap a more sellable movie, the same way that casting RDJ made Iron Man more understandable (millionaire playboy with a bad streak)

3) Michael Keaton. The parallels are there. Do you think the guy who stared in Mr Mom and Beetle Juice really seemed like the perfect casting call the first time it was announced?

also, it should be known I am no hater of JK. i loved Away We Go and I think it should have gotten a few nods. i just can't get down with lobogotti Mar 09, 13:36

I feel you, I enjoyed AWG as well. Check out this sketch of JK as CAP http://www.popcultureshock.com/john-krasinski-captain-america/54827/ UniversalTrader Mar 09, 13:40

How bad can he be? He's marrying Emily Blunt :) {nm} tonyj1 Mar 09, 13:51

Too bad she dropped out as Black Widow or they could've been in AVNGR together. {nm} Antibody Mar 09, 14:00

thats just asinine reasoning. "he will bring more to the role" just like leatherhads huh? this guy lacks the presence to be in the same SneakerPimp Mar 09, 14:41

I still didn't like Keaton for Batman...didn't like Bale either...both look like they could get beaten up by theJoker in an alley {nm} tealfan Mar 09, 18:49

In what universe would casting Krasinski as Captain America be at all in any way remotely close to as successful as RDJ for Ironman? {nm} Apokalips Mar 10, 00:58
