Movies

FYI since Hollywood exposed themselves I cut back going to the movies. Last week I realized I saved $85,000+ since 2015!

I used to have the saying "Go big or stay home"  My family used to see movies weekly often more than one. Used to see movies on a guys night or take multiple trips with different groups. No longer.

An IMAX 3D is $23.50 For my parents, 3 kids, my wife and myself it cost $154 just in tickets and another $42 in concessions. Then we'd go out to eat , seven people $200 a dinner. So each time we went out we spent $400. Did this nearly every week sometimes twice a week. Two teachers together we make over $200k a year. We have absurd credit limits since we spent so much and paid it off.

Hollywood turned us off so much we stayed home, cooked in, spent more time together doing other activities.

Saved enough for a new car (paid cash,) martial arts classes, and other hobbies. Building a Hot Rod and other fun contraptions.

And still INCREASED my savings by $60,000  in the bank since end of 2015.  Debating on getting 2 motorcycles for my wife and I.

It's NOT peanuts. DTXbro. It adds up fast. If you have a brain DTXbro calculate it.

We still see a few movies per year but a fraction of like we did just 3 years ago. Been smiling a hell of a lot more since I realized how much I saved.

Don't know what the point of that post was or what you mean by "Hollywood exposed themselves". DTravel Jul 08, 12:42

He's regressive so he's anti progressive Hollywood. {nm} Jay_Beezy Jul 08, 13:35

Just think,,,if you got a part time job at a movie theater, you could have saved money AND seen a lotta great movies. {nm} Catzan Jul 08, 14:50

Is this real? 2 teachers make 200K a year? Hollywood turned you off? What was it Hollywood's liberal jamesbik333 Jul 08, 15:29

How were you not the first person ever to sign up for MoviePass? ndmaster Jul 08, 15:43

I have a brain - I wouldn't spend 23.50 for ANY movie regardless how good it is. {nm} JDolphin Jul 08, 15:54

Spoken like someone that clearly doesn't understand what making 200k affords you with 3 kids you way over shot the numbers {nm} NineTailFox Jul 08, 16:35

How do I block this guy’s posts? Honestly asking. Been more or less lukeing since 2003.... {nm} TerenceHill Jul 08, 17:10

“Lurking” sorry {nm} TerenceHill Jul 08, 17:11

I know; I saved six figures last year when I decided to quit collecting Faberge' Eggs! {nm} Goodvibe61 Jul 09, 00:07

lol, I'm stealing that line {nm} journey Jul 09, 07:25

"martial arts classes" {nm} Wellespring Jul 09, 02:56

"teacher"(s) making over $200k a year. With his 4th-grade millennial vocabulary and lack of arguing (copy/paste) skills? Proof? {nm} BSmurf Jul 09, 06:54

I'd rather not see proof. Getting confirmation he's shaping young minds is too scary a thought. {nm} dubord.s Jul 09, 10:56

ALWAYS ask these guys for proof. It's the best way to get them to shut up. Facts can be checked. Their lies don't hold up. {nm} BSmurf Jul 09, 13:01

(and I bet his employer would be very interested in his social media shenanigans... They'll reflect so well on their institution) {nm} BSmurf Jul 09, 13:02

I'm confused, has he said anything bad about any of you guys/gals? {nm} Prophecy Jul 11, 10:12

Neil? Is that you? {nm} avandelay Jul 09, 07:14

Actually, that's about the same annually that I've saved by avoiding going to the US since the last presidential election. {nm} dubord.s Jul 09, 09:17

This is the dumbest post in the history of this board. And that says a lot coming from this guy. {nm} MiyazakiFan Jul 09, 09:23
