When it was moved from midnight to 9 or 10pm it kind of made sense because they could only fit one showtime before closing, same as midnight
But moving up to 7 or 8 was where it started to not make sense anymore since the same screen could fit 2 showtimes on Thursday.
There have been more egregious cases though, I believe Mockingjay 2 had wednesday special shows which revenue was dumped in with the regular Thursday previews.
