Seems like he'd have a point given they used a fair bit of the original....
If the movies are similar enough you can use all the old songs in keeping your narrative functioning; seems like there's enough remnants to give back to the original writers even if it's "Inspired By" type of money.
Not like Disney's re-inventing the wheel with any of these movies.
