Jar Jar, midchlorians, etc, presented no overt "identity politics" dimensions to debate -- they were simply about SW lore, moronic characters, and bad special effects.

 

Johnson's movie was a "check the boxes" approach to wokeness and sensitivity to "inclusiveness". 

 

Do you really think the only source of unhappiness over seeiny ST8 turned into a SJW mission statement was from Russian Bots?
