My concern is that it might not actually play well with kids and parents
It's actually a pretty serious and even "dark" at times story. It's essentially an existential mid-life crisis. I can imagine a lot of kids being bored with it. I thought it was "better" than 3, but I thought 3 sucked, so that's not really saying much.
