Vonda was live blogging the event, hunkered down at a table in the corner and typing away. As the novels were announced, she started to type "And the winner is...." and then S#@%lasdjfasdi (or something similar) She was floored. There is nothing quite like honest amazement and humility during and acceptance speech.
And, yes, some heroic sole (I can't recall who, Nisi Shawl maybe?) jumped into the chair as she got up to let folks know what was going on. There was general excitement and amusement both on and offline.
