Goodvibe61, finally watched the trailer for Hard Truth and see what you mean...

I mean, Marianne Jean-Baptiste's character comes across as quite unpleasant and I'm sure it's worse when culled into a 2-minute trailer, but if you're a fan of Mike Leigh and his character studies, you'll know that there's more to the character than it seems. It took me a few viewings to get past how abrasive she is, but it's an amazing performance when you watch how the whole thing comes together... or at least I hope people feel that way. Mike Leigh has always been very British and maybe not all Americans appreciate that. (He's also a difficult interview but I love talking to him... as I just did)
