And newer companies like A24 and Neon just have so much more marketing clout to actually get behind their acquisitions. It's amazing that even a company like Briarcliff seems to be hanging on. The Apprentice should have been a slam dunk for them but it went wide too quickly and then immediately lost theaters to the point where it stopped reporting box office by December. Meanwhile, it gets a Golden Globe nomination and two Oscar nominations and the only way to see it is on VOD and streaming. That's just really bad planning since there was plenty of screens for a January rerelease.
