Based on all those comparisons, I can see INCPT doing roughly $20 to 21 million on Friday, maybe a little more

Posted by: secretstalker (a.k.a AwardsFund) on Jul 16, 08:08 in response to notfabio's post Inception did about 30% better than NELMS at midnight.

Which means the best it can do over the weekend is $55 to $62 million... definite short then if those numbers are right.

Inception did about 30% better than NELMS at midnight. {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:39

well that is not that good {nm} gogreen Jul 16, 07:41

does not sound good given fanboy hysteria {nm} lesana Jul 16, 07:44

52% of WATCH midnights {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:44

Clash of the Titans Number then? Karthick24 Jul 16, 07:49

CLASH did about 27% better, but yes, that's probably because of the the 8pm - 12am run.. {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:51

61% of Wolverine {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:46

57% better than INGLORIOUS BASTERDS {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:48

I don't see anything for SHUTTER ISLAND (which obviously would have been the best comparison) {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 07:52

Whoa. I was thinking it would do maybe 70% of Avatar (think that was $6MM?). That seems really low. Any reason to think that's not GMov Jul 16, 07:58

Avatar did around Karthick24 Jul 16, 08:02

Keep in mind that INCEPTION still had the IMAX price boost (Most theatres charge the same for IMAX 3D as they do IMAX) and it's Summer {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 08:24

It was probably also in far more site right? Also, aren't summer midnight numbers typically bigger than winter ones? {nm} GMov Jul 16, 08:29

Yeah, I think INGLORIOUS BASTERDS is "probably" the best comparison of the Summer midnights, big star, big director, long running time. notfabio Jul 16, 08:30

It's hard for me to believe it will do anything under 60 at the absolute least. Dont the stellar reviews add a few $M? {nm} bennyboy10 Jul 16, 08:36

Sales really surged at the last minute which for this kind of film does indicate that review WOM is having an effect {nm} notfabio Jul 16, 08:54

My EAP God estimate digs your IM :) {nm} joeoftexas Jul 16, 09:24

That's pretty solid given the older targeted demo and length of the film. $60m+ seems highly likely. {nm} Rolling_Thunder Jul 16, 08:12

Solid $3M Midnights For Nolan's 'Inception'! Karthick24 Jul 16, 08:19

Should do $65 Million for the Weekend now I guess with the updated Number from Nikki! {nm} Karthick24 Jul 16, 08:20

Midnight shows only in 1,600 locations for Inception {nm} Karthick24 Jul 16, 09:05

We didn't have a Predators midnight # did we... how does Inception compare to that notbabio? {nm} Guts Jul 16, 09:28

Look like somewhere between 55 and 65 for the weekend {nm} xiayun Jul 16, 09:43

Some of the overreaction in this thread is ridiculously hilarious. $3m is an excellent number...it beat Avatar's PTA and did 75% of TREK... ShawnMR Jul 16, 09:55

Make that less than half. 1600 vs 3849. {nm} ShawnMR Jul 16, 09:57
