..maybe I'm just living in the past. After all, it's not a new trope that aliens look down on humans. I would be even more annoyed if Gunn cops out and retcons it.
I can see the influences of All-Star Superman which Gunn mentioned as part of his prep: the way the citizens of Metropolis seem to be used to battles with outer space beings and seeing advanced technology; the sci-fi flavor; the down-to-earth dialog, Lois knowing Clark is Superman; Lois helping to save him, Jimmy getting hot women.
I had no problem with the running joke of Jimmy of all people being a reluctant ladies man and characters' bewildered reactions to it. Might as well go all the way with it in the next movie and have a couple cameos of female celebs who once went out with him, followed by more bewildered looks. 😁
