I don't get back here enough, but I still read when I can. Hope everyone is doing well. A few weeks before the release
I had Hail Mary opening around $90M; based on a number of factors.
Then I saw the film early, and it plays so well I thought it would 4x and clear $360M domestic.
Though I'm not sure it will get there, it certainly has a shot at $350M (which off an $80M opening would be crazy impressive). I think it needs to be above $225M after this weekend to make it though. Took a deep hit Wednesday from Mario, and the loss of IMAX sucks.
It was hitting some major stride, just as it lost those screens.
Either way, what an impressive run for a feel good "family" film. Say what you want about the movie, but in today's climate, it was a film I think audiences needed.
