Probably because they know they can get it cheap and it won't have to make much to return the investment.
But as with Sundance, if anyone overpays for the movie (and that's basically anything over $3 million), maybe they should give the money to me cause it would be just as worthwhile an investment.
The movie is super-violent, has a really dark tone, it's not a tone that's easy with audiences and it stars Rainn Wilson who couldn't even sell the MUCH better (and easier to market) movie The Rocker.
