this new IPO regime is here to reduce trading capital explanation here

Posted by: naughty (a.k.a bunty_ketti) on Nov 30, 09:30

a particaular ipo priced $25 has longs in favor of longs with 30:1  is dwn 15%

a certain disney ipo priced $40 had longs 50:1 in favor of longs opens 15 - 20 % down , gets short created with a fake down trend , ratio reduces to 40:1 , then prices reverses like never before

the exchanges explanation will be shorts got squeezed so its up 50% in 2 days

ahem , excuse me mr. exchange , how the hell do stocks go down 20 % initially if longs are 50:1

this is an excuse to increase number of trades. its a good thing CANTOR didnt get approved i guess then

hoots and agrees !! {nm} WBROXFund Nov 30, 09:50

Hsx no longer wants long-term players (if they ever did :)) so the stock moves according to current trades grammar Nov 30, 09:57

and rightly so. ! This site will be hotter than twitter this way ( seriously ) JMT Nov 30, 10:03

Stocks always move to current trades. Was gameplay always 'logical' before? Remember all those "why is so-an-so up/down?" Antibody Nov 30, 10:05

Ah but there was a pattern before. Now, IMO, there is more room for manipulation. {nm} grammar Nov 30, 10:13

Sounds to me you guys are discussing a new IPO pattern. We will actively find and fine manipulators. {nm} Antibody Nov 30, 10:22

So is this two separate thoughts grouped together in one Subject Line? Because discussing patterns (which you brought into this thread) Vashta Nerada Nov 30, 11:38

Two separate thoughts in respond to grammar's two separate thoughts. {nm} Antibody Nov 30, 11:46

Obviously, there has been some discussions on the board. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why the grammar Nov 30, 12:12

Did you ever consider making the exchange similar to real-life markets... where there are a limited number of shares for each stock and bloopster Nov 30, 10:22

Predictive markets that require matching actual buyer and seller have mostly failed due to inactivity. {nm} Antibody Nov 30, 10:23

great answer. and very true ( I think ). Stops a lot of arguments ( I hope ) {nm} JMT Nov 30, 10:35

Guys guys, admit it. y'all love the game, so stop yammering over the Disney losses and get on with the game {nm} pongena2 Nov 30, 11:37

For a buy & hold player like myself, it makes no difference. I will decide whether to buy and ignore initial price movements. {nm} fourstars Nov 30, 11:53

I got so burned by this particular IPO, that I refuse to touch IPO since then. the new HSX stock movements defy logic, and is putting me off {nm} extepan Nov 30, 15:36

defy what logic? because you can now see the shares held long/short? ndmaster Nov 30, 18:00
