One can religiously define marriage any way one wants.
As a GOVERNMENT institution, defining it in a way that specifically excludes a very specific group of people is the very definition of discrimination and therefore a a civil rights inequality. I would love to hear the counter argument that it is somehow not.
I personally have committed (what used to be considered) a greater "sin": I'm divorced. I have shunned the religious institution of marriage. Why is that perfectly acceptable vs two people the same sex getting married.
(and for anyone who is going to be foolish enough to bring up "the Bible says..." arguments, you will be buried in other things the Bible says that are considered just as heinous that are completely laughable that you probably have done yourself. Keep your Bibly cherry-picking to yourself and I will, too. YOU don't get to decide what carries more weight from a 2,000 year old book.)
