The early penalty was a bit harsh although not unfair. Definitely set the tone though. Thought we might make a go of it in the 2nd after Herculez's goal just before the break. No surprise that the 4 guys who scored for them are amongst the best players in the world though.. Brazil is having a bit of a golden age on attack and their two biggest name defenders produced offensively as well.
Their defensive capabilities looked a little suspect last night although Thiago Silva is absolutely brilliant generally. I think they'll be involved in a lot of high-scoring games going forward.
As far as the US is concerned, the attack was encouraging in the 2nd half but we've gotta find a way to get more of those near misses in the net. It's nice to be able to hang your hat on the effort but the result is what matters.
Good for the boys to face a very tough opponent like this before the stuff that counts!
