I don't think F1 gave them much choice about the timing, or else the conflicting schedule with the NASCAR season finale would seem gutsy...
I've heard a lot of latin fans have shown up for the race, some people were actually calling it the Mexican GP.
The track setup to me seems recicled, but the real value is to actually have a F1 race in US territory. You know, regain access to that market after the Indy fiasco a few years ago. Next up a US driver, then a race somewhere around NY, and go on from there.
I might try to make it to a race up there in a few years, certainly the closest I have right now. Montreal would be cool too. If you're a real fan it's well worth the financial effort, it's a once-a-year thing at worst. I still have chills when I remember the sound of those engines...
