1. The opening scene was fantastic. The focus on a time when they were all better people. The conversation about Holly was full circle for the episode as she's the focus on that scene and the ending as well.
2. Loved how they opened the desert scene after with the gunfire, Gomie dead and Hank wounded without bullets. This really did the last episode justice and gave a satifying conclussion to that shootout. However, we lost Hank and that was hard to stomach. He was an excellent character and hopefully he gets a nod for Best Supporting next year.
3. Symbolism of Hank being buried in the same hole as the drug money. WOW The forced handshake... INSANE
4. Walt's reveal to Jesse about Jane. For all that time, Walt has looked at Jesse as a son (sometimes more than his own son) and to send him to his death, but right before confessing about watching her die was truly evil. A powerful scene.
5. Barrell through the desert. First of all that is the kind of dark humor that puts this show above any other (for me). Have a second viewing and notice he walks right past the pants he lost in the first season. EXCELLENT!
6. Marie coming to gloat. Fascinating turn, because had she not, this episode would have ended much differently.
7. Walt Jr in the know. The seatbelt request from Skyler and the line he uttered.... hilarious tension breaker.
8. The White House Knife Fight. This may have been the most powerful scene in the episode. It was the best acted for sure... they all got to show off some chops. Cranston not being able to pull off uniting the family... he was lost in his expressions. The fight itself, Skyler and then Walt Jr. finally choosing his mother over his father (when he has always favored him so).
9. Walt grabbing Holly. Watch Holly's face as he leaves the drive way (to tears instantly...perfect). Watch the rear tires on the car he backs out into the street (made for a truly realistic scene). Watch Skyler's reaction to it all.
10. The most powerful scene (slightly ahead of the house scene) was Holly speaking her first words we have heard with "mama" over and over. The reaction from Walt was superb. If you could maintain not shedding a tear you're a stronger person than myself.
11. The phone call was genius, though earth shattering for Walt. He has now officially lost everything he truly ever cared about. He confessed knowing Skyler had the police listening in. She knew what he was doing, because his words were out of character with his and her previous actions. Suffering through to completely belittle and threaten her, having to cry through the words. He took full blame and made her look like the wife to scared to open her mouth... perfectly executed.
12. Leaving Holly at the fire station. Heartbreaking knowing that may have been their last interaction... in fact, that may have been the last time he see's any of the family ever again and think about how awful those final moments were for them all.
13. Clean slate guy. Walt's on his way to a new life, but it's temporary as we suspect from the flash forwards from the first episode of season 5.
14. Symbolism of the dog walking across the street as the car drives off. My take is that was a dog with no home, no family, off on his own.... which is where Walter is.
Overall the best episode of the series and maybe the best episode for any shows, ever.
2 more to go and I'm a nervous wreck.
