Thank you for that usage correction.

While I am used to making my share of typos, I find that making grammar or usage errors like that is truly embarrassing.

You have misconstrued the premise of the entire article. This type of response goes a long way to explaining why I generally choose not to engage in online debates. It is pointless. On the other hand, I am happy to occasionally post links to articles and ideas many people would never otherwise see. Professional writers can put ideas across much better than I can. Their words speak for themselves.

The writer never claimed that the Democrat Party wants "blacks out of work in favor of hispanics." It is suggested that higher black unemployment will be the inevitable result of legalizing untold millions of new workers that would be competing for jobs at the same level of skills and qualification.

Of course, a fair number of Republicans have favored various reforms to immigration, purportedly for the cheap labor it would provide. The writer of the article fingers the Democrat party because it is wildly expected to be the primary beneficiary of the new voting block. And, it is known that blacks have overwhelmingly supported the Democrat party. And, the writer is expanding on -- without making a direct connection -- an argument that you've surely been exposed to, that blacks have long been ill-served by the Democrat party.

Ezdep - do you actually agree with the horse puckey contained in that article, or is this another example of conservative desperation? BSmurf Jul 10, 14:37

Sounds like the thinking of a Rep machine to me.... one robot for every man and child. {nm} mishra Jul 10, 15:20

Yes, I find it inciteful. I'm sure some who ridicule it find it (too) inciteful, as well. {nm} edzep - Port Monkey! Jul 10, 19:57

"Insightful" is the word you're looking for. "Incite" means something else entirely (unless that is exactly what you meant, in which case BSmurf Jul 11, 17:02

Thank you for that usage correction. edzep - Port Monkey! Jul 12, 07:18

But the article's main argument is incorrect - it buys into the lump of labor fallacy, that there's a fixed amount of labour to go around RogerMore Jul 12, 13:07

Taken under advisement. I did read a chunk of it. I don't feel qualified to either accept it, or to critique it. {nm} edzep - Port Monkey! Jul 13, 06:23

I can't speak to the data, but the economics is sound. Low-skilled jobs, while low-skilled, are still different from RogerMore Jul 13, 11:49

This is why "no one likes" you. Can't you understand this? You make random statements with no backup, reasoning, or even necessity. {nm} BSmurf Jul 10, 16:42
