My first uess was that this was an ad for "Area 51" but when I went to check I saw the release date for that flick is 5/15 while the date I saw on this "ad", for whatever it was for, was 5/11. I did not catch a prooperty/product that was being specifically advertised though one may have been shown but since it was very quick and staticy, I didn't catch it. So I'm hoping somebody here saw it and caught what it was about. Regardless, and assuming it is semi-hidden oand/or viral marketing, it looked like a cool way of doing it because it was VERY random and also not heavy-handed at all so I almost felt like I couldn't be sure I even saw it in the first place (I did though darnit! haha)
So an old ad (from last year or 2) was playing. It for a phone company, Verizon I think, and it had a guy talking to a customer service guy on the phone late at night. He was stoked about the deal he was getting and his wife heard him talking and thought he was talking to another woman and not a customer service guy. So she gets on and says something like "Alright Mike, from Verizon. What are you wearing?"
Anyway, in this ad, at verious points, the screen goes snowy and sketchy and symbols show up un screen for a split second. Then, toward the end, a readable image shows up that included the 5/11 date. I thought it was very effective in that in was so completely out of nowhere and unhighlighted. Perhaps slightly ineffective though in that I didn't catch the message.
Thanks to anybody that can help me figure out what this was an ad for!
