it's funny, because the day before I posted this I got into a nice discussion on how I'm giving up on trying to stay caught up
with new shows. there are just too many.
truthfully, I think I'm giving in on keeping up with all of the hour long dramas. but 22-25 minute comedies are enjoyable and quick to get through (for me anyway).
I read this year there will be 450 scripted shows and close to 1500 series on TV. at this point it's more exhausting for me to get to all I'm recommended, so I'm trying to find the cream of the crop, as to not waste time. laughter is kinda the point these days, for me. though I do love my dramas, I will always favor movies over TV (and this time of year we get the good stuff).... Hell or Highwater, Sully, Deepwater, Mag 7 were all well done IMO and theres plenty more to get me through the holidays coming up.
as skamanfu said below, Better Things is killer. it really is worth the watch, especially since you bring up Adlon yourself. it feels like it could be her actual life, it's that well done. and Imrie says some jaw-dropping comments that will have you screaming out loud. that being said, it's not meant to be a laugh a minute show... try it and let us know.
