those groups?
While crudely stated in some of his posts, I've interpreted DTX's messaged to be coming from a place of wishing for the evolution of thought amongst those groups, rather than the stubborn, steadfast regressive thinking and behavior that a significant portion of those groups adhere to.
It seems as if DTX is speaking from a place of frustration towards the lengths that certain groups of peopple will go to justify their beliefs.
Yes, this goes both ways, but let's be honest here: the right wing conservstive media movements over the past 40 years in the USA and beyond have systematically indoctrinated and plied their audiences with outright lies to the point that a significant percentage of them have a completely unrealistic view of the world. Many are unable to distinguish reality from their spoon-fed fictions that the Internet and niche social media groups have nourished, embellished, and encourage.
I believe DTXbro and a great many others have watched this bizarre devolution of thought from (mostly) the right wing over decades with disappontment, frustration, and fear.
And it doesn't seem to be getting better. Many of these folks are digging in and doubling (and tripling) down on their irrational unrealities, and we have to ask: "When, and how, will (can?) it be stopped?"
Demographically speaking, the members of these groups are largely rural, largely insular (small communities whether literally small towns or small Internet communities of like-minded people), religious, and white. Their bigotry comes from lies (and some truths that were corrupted to reach erroneous conclusions) they were exposed to from a great many sources throughout their lives, and reinforced by the RW media and Internet communities they visit to confirm their biases.
So what can be done? Shall we kill the messenger (DTXbro) because he's not articulating his thoughts and frustrations in a clear and respectful enough manner? Obviously, the message is not getting through to enough people he is trying to reach and convince. (Which, again, works with both sides - everyone is saying, "LISTEN TO ME", but few have any desire to listen or HEAR what is being said, much less invest time thinking seriously about it. Text is simply too easy to ignore.)
Since being "nice" has not been working, I am guessing that a "sledgehammer to the face" approach of using direct, specific calling out of people and groups is what he has arrived at. It certainly takes less time than creating a reasoned, articulate argument of one's position that the other side has but to say, "Cool story, bro" and dismiss it outright.
