Could be they're making Sam Beckett's swiss cheesed memory blamed women of the week despite being married a plot point.
His wife is only in two episodes and basically they write it off that she is fine with it, because she thought he wouldn't be able to successfully continue leaping if he knew he had one. There doesn't appear to be anyone cast in the guest role of Janis yet, who's mysterious description (and age) makes it sound like she is Sam Beckett's daughter that either he can't remember or didn't know he had (could also be that they are going to wait to introduce until they sign a deal with Scott Bakula/and or he is no longer has commitments to that Yellowstone knockoff).
