OVERVIEW of things to look at to make V4 a more pleasant experience :)

1) PORTFOLIO:

I like to work in minimized screen and not enough of the information (reading across) in the portfolio view shows in the smaller screen.  Mousing over or using the arrow up/down doesn’t work at all well.  Some of the points below give ideas to decrease the width of the page.

a) I still think the quantities should be black for long and red for short.  Then the long/short column should go.  This is an ideal way to shorten the page width.  I still think a different font and much darker should be used to make the information more easily read.

b) I still think the % changes shouldn't be squished beside the $ change.  Let’s have the %’s in a separate column. Personally, I don't need the % daily change.

c) ‘Today’s Change’ column is way too wide.  Let’s have the width decreased which will make for a smaller overall width of page.

d) The response for the mouse-over on the tool bar is overly sensitive.  The mouse gets anywhere close and the boxes are dropping down.

2) TRADING:

a) When using the advance trader (in max. screen or minimized screen) the 'place order' icon is too far away from the trade boxes.  Do a couple of dozen trades and it takes a lot of wrist action.  I'd like the 'place order' tab moved to the left or put under 'limit price' field.  Yes, this will speed up the overall trading practice but more importantly, it will reduce wrist-strain.

b) The trade icon in the last column to the right which is on every stock line works okay but I never use it and actually am glad it doesn’t show in the reduced screen-view.  The ‘make another trade’ should bring up a trade box with the same stock symbol and default max quantity because clicking in at this point is usually to take a reverse position of that stock.

c) If one wants to decide whether to trade a stock and clicks through to the stock page, decide and then proceed with a trade order, it could take what seems like 10 minutes.  This is due to the pages loading way too slow.  The page-load gets slower as more active traders join the site and one of the main reason I just gave up trying to trade anything on Saturday.

d) When one does go to the stock page and uses the trade box there, once filled out and 'place order' clicked, that should be it.  Why do we get redirected to another 'place your order' box where the symbol ticker is there but the quantity has to be filled in anew.  Trading is slow enough without having this unnecessary step.  Hint:  Use the advance trader to make a trade immediately to see how it works.  This also needs a bit of tweaking but all trade boxes should work like this.

e) When working in the 'advanced order' to make trades, sometimes when you hit backspace the boxes stay 'filled in', sometimes they don’t.  I like the boxes to stay filled in so that I know easily what stock I just traded and it is there if I’m doing a flip.

f)      In the old HSX, one could use two screens and do two trades (or even 3 or 4) simultaneously which was great for flipping a stock.  In V4, if one tries this the pages spin and nothing is accomplished.

3) Sign-in Screen:

Oh my, why do we get booted out of the system if it remains inactive for such a short period of time?   If this is to lessen traffic, it makes sense but please make the inactive period longer – say an hour.  When researching an article; reading emails/twitter while posting to the forum it is a bummer to find that one has run out of time and must sign in again.

There is more but I haven’t gotten it put together nicely yet.
