Jodie Foster and Chow Yun Fat star in a full length feature adaptation of the book that inspired Rodgers & Hammerstein's "The King and I" as well as the 1946 film of the same name.
The King of Siam brought Anna Leonowens to Thailand in the 1860s as a tutor for the extended royal family. Anna educated the King and his court on the many customs and conventions of her world.
Thailand's Film Board will not let Andy Tennant ("Ever After") direct this picture from its original setting, claiming that the story is an insult to the monarchy.
