Finding Forrester is the story of an underpriviledged African-American teen with talents in both basketball and prose. When a critically acclaimed reclusive writer took note of the teen's writing, a mentorship forms that changes the course of the teen's life forever. Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) directs the film which stars Sean Connery, F. Murray Abraham, Anna Paquin, and Busta Rhymes.
The screenplay was written by Michael A. Rich, who received the Don and Gee Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship with five other writers this year from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This fellowship recognizes new writers that have yet to sign a major screenwriting deal. Rich is a D.J. in the Portland, OR area. Lawrence Mark purchased the script and will be producing the project. Mark has also produced As Good As It Gets, among other pictures.
