Description

Mel Gibson stars in The Patriot which promises to be one of the event films of Summer 2000.

Written by Robert Rodat, scribe for Saving Private Ryan, Roland Emmerich directs this drama about a man forced to fight in the Revolutionary War.

After fighting valiantly in the French and Indian War Benjamin Martin becomes a pacifist. When the British soldiers invade his South Carolina home this man of strong principles must become a strong soldier once again to save all that he holds dear.

Heath Ledger plays Martin's son Gabriel, who fights alongside his father.
