After starring in a handful of Australian movies including Mad Max, Mel Gibson made his Hollywood debut in 1984's The Bounty. But it was his role as loose-cannon cop Martin Riggs in 1987's Lethal Weapon that made Gibson a household name. Gibson won the Best Director Oscar for Braveheart in 1995.
