Director John Frankenheimer has won four Emmys in recent years for cable films Andersonville and George Wallace and has also helmed film classics such as The Manchurian Candidate and Birdman of Alcatraz. Frankenheimer follows up the success of 1998's Ronin with Reindeer Games. Frankenheimer will work with Dimension Films who picked up the script from Ehren Kruger.
Kruger has been doing very well in Hollywood these days having written Arlington Road, Impostor, and Scream 3.
The story follows Ben Affleck, an ex-con, who is tricked into an elaborate scheme to rob a casino at Christmas time. Charlize Theron will play the female lead opposite Affleck. Gary Sinise will presumably play the convict friend that tricks Affleck into being an accomplice in the robbery.
