Based on a book about war experiences of the Native Americans, Skins tells the story of a Lakota Sioux tribal police officer named Rudy Yellow Lodge. Rudy and his brother Mogie, an alcoholic, served in the Vietnam war. The film details their experiences after they return from battle to a country that has been torn apart by war. Their Native American identities give them an unique adjusting process as they return to the land that had initially oppressed them.
Jennifer Lyne writes the script to this highly sensitive film directed by Chris Eyre of Smoke Signals. The cast includes Graham Greene, Eric Schweig, Nathaniel Arcand, and Michelle Thrush. First Look Pictures is expected to release Skins fall of 2001.
