Set against New York's jazz scene in the 1930's, Sweet and Lowdown is written and directed by Woody Allen, and features Sean Penn as an eccentric jazz guitarist whose life is influenced by lovers, gangsters and other musicians.
Uma Thurman and Anthony LaPaglia also star in the film, along with Samantha Morton and Gretchen Mol.
Sweet and Lowdown is Allen's 29th directorial effort, and his second period piece since 1994's Bullets over Broadway.
