Robert Redford will direct and produce a fictional account of a championship golf game in 1931. Baggar Vance (Will Smith) is the caddy to war hero Rannulph Junah (Matt Damon) and has taught him the secret to the "authentic swing." Playing against Junah in the tourney are Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen. The story is based on the debut novel from Steven Pressfield that won rave reviews from golfers and non-golfers alike. Think of Bagger Vance as The Natural, only the characters are swinging golf clubs instead of baseball bats.
