The nominees for the 84th Academy Awards have been announced. Hugo picked up 11 nominations to lead the ceremony followed by The Artist with 10 nods. Nine films secured an Oscar nomination for Best Picture in the first year where the selection can vary from five to ten. With this year’s NominOptions, traders successfully predicted 75% of the Oscar nominees in the top eight categories.
Best Picture
The nine nominees are Extremely Loud & incredibly Close, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Artist, The Descendants, The Help, The Tree of Life and War Horse. Traders correctly selected 7 out of 9, opting for Drive and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo instead of Extremely Loud & incredibly Close and The Tree of Life.
