The nominations for the 89th Academy Awards were announced earlier today. La La Land led the way with a record-tying 14 nominations. The Hollywood Stock Exchange offered NominOptions for the leading contenders in the top eight categories and HSX traders collectively successfully predicted 86% of the Oscar nominees this year. Here's how each category broke down.

The Best Director nominees were Barry Jenkins – Moonlight [N7DBJE], Damien Chazelle – La La Land [N7DDCH], Denis Villeneuve – Arrival [N7DDVI], Kenneth Lonergan – Manchester by the Sea [N7DKLO] and Mel Gibson – Hacksaw Ridge [N7DMGI]. HSX picked 4 out of 5, choosing Garth Davis – Lion over Gibson.
The Best Actor nominees were Andrew Garfield – Hacksaw Ridge [N7AAGH], Casey Affleck – Manchester by the Sea [N7AMBT], Denzel Washington – Fences [N7AFEN], Ryan Gosling – La La Land [N7ARGO] and Viggo Mortensen – Captain Fantastic [N7AVMO]. HSX went 4 for 5, picking Tom Hanks – Sully instead of Mortensen.
The Best Actress nominees were Emma Stone – La La Land [N7CEST], Isabelle Huppert – Elle [N7CIHU], Meryl Streep – Florence Foster Jenkins [N7CMST], Natalie Portman – Jackie [N7CNPO], and Ruth Negga – Loving [N7CRNE]. HSX was 4 for 5, missing Streep with Amy Adams – Arrival.
The Best Supporting Actor nominees were Dev Patel – Lion [N7RDPA], Jeff Bridges – Hell or High Water [N7RJBR], Lucas Hedges – Manchester by the Sea [N7RLHE], Mahershala Ali – Moonlight [N7RMON], Michael Shannon – Nocturnal Animals [N7RMSH]. HSX was 4 out of 5 again, opting for Hugh Grant – Florence Foster Jenkins rather than Shannon.
The Best Supporting Actress nominees were Michelle Williams – Manchester by the Sea [N7SMWI], Naomie Harris – Moonlight [N7SNHA], Nicole Kidman– Lion [N7SNKI], Octavia Spencer – Hidden Figures [N7SOSP] and Viola Davis – Fences [N7SVDAI]. HSX was a perfect 5 for 5.
The Best Adapted Screenplay nominees were Arrival [N7EARV], Fences [N7EFEN], Hidden Figures [N7EHID], Lion [N7ELIO] and Moonlight [N7EMON]. HSX went 4 for 5, leaving out Lion for Nocturnal Animals.
The Best Original Screenplay nominees were 20th Century Women [N7O20C], Hell or High Water [N7OHHW], La La Land [N7OLAL], Manchester by the Sea [N7OMBT] and The Lobster [N7OLOB]. HSX was another 4 for 5, missing The Lobster with Jackie.
