Universal has revealed another trailer for Illumination's animated musical Sing [SING].  Set in an an anathromorphic world not unlike Zootopia, the animal citizens are holding a singing competition not unlike American Idol Sing bows in theaters on December 21st.

Paramount has uploaded the full-length trailer for the action adventure XXX: Return of Xander Cage [XXX3].  Vin Diesel [VDIES] returns to his role of extreme athlete turned secret agent after nearly 15 years and a renewed apprecation for sequels fueled by the Fast & Furious series.  He recruits a multi-cultural motley crew of rebels to take on the villains played by Donnie Yen [DYEN], Tony Jaa [TJAA] and Michael Bisbing.   XXX: Return of Xander Cage drops into theaters on January 20th.

Fox Searchlight has unveiled the trailer for the drama Gifted [GIFTD] starring Chris Evans [CEVAN].  Directed by Marc Webb [MWEBB], Gifted opens wide on April 12th.

Sony has launched the trailer for the sci-fi thriller Life [LIFEM] that's Alien meets Gravity Jake Gyllenhaal [JGYLL], Rebecca Ferguson [RFERG], Hiroyuki Sanada [HSANA], Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare and Ryan Reynolds [RREYN] play the six-member crew of the International Space Station  searching for the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars.  Life begins on May 24th.

Halloween weekend turned out to be a trick for Inferno [NFERN], which flamed out in second place with an estimated $15.0 million.  Tyler Perry's Boo!  A Madea Halloween [BOAMH] was treated to a repeat in first with $16.7 million, down just 41% from its debut.  The comedy has bagged $52.0 million.  Meanwhile, Inferno's opening is less than 33% of the previous sequel, Angels & Demons.

Halloween weekend has typically been slow at the box office as Americans go trick-or-treating and partying. This year, the 31st falls on Monday, leaving plenty of time for older adults to check out this weekend’s sole new wide release, Inferno [NFERN]. Universal has unploaded the second full-length trailer for the thriller Split [SPLIT] from writer-director M. Night Shyamalan [MNSHY].   James McAvoy [JMCAV] plays a man with 23 multiple personalities who has kidnapped three women, two of whom are played by Anya Taylor-Joy [ATJOY] and Haley Lu Richardson [HLRIC].  Split opens in theaters on January 20th.

An October surprise came at the weekend box office as Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween [BOAMH] debuted at number 1 with an estimated $27.6 million.  Fans came back to the series and produced a CinemScore of "A".

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back [RECH2] nabbed $23.0 million to open in second place.  Critics and audiences alike rated the sequel below the original.

Ouija: Origin of Evil [OUIJ2] opened in third place with $14.1 million, short of the first film's $19.9 million.

Even after a summer of lackluster sequels, Hollywood drops three more sequels on this fall weekend. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back [RECH2] may win out due to Tom Cruise [TCRUIS], who’s coming off the well-received Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.
