There are 2 kinds of funds.
Theme funds, such as EURO, ADJUS and, ahem, BONDS, which have certain kinds of securities which they can invest in. These funds delist (cash out) when they reach 100, and IPO at 20.
Studio funds can only invest in movies from their studio (IE Fox, Disney, Warners, etc) These funds IPO in Sept or Oct and delist a year later. They IPO at only 10 and delist (cash out) on a certain date at whatever the price is. This year Warners is way over 100 (Thank you HPOT) while a couple are under the initial IPO.
In the case of a beginner who has little cash, I recommend that you stay away from funds as you have little capital and cannot tie it up in a slow growth investment.
If you have a surplus, jump on those who have a proven records. ADJUS and EURO went from 20 to 100 in 3-4 months (thank you HPOT) and BONDS usually takes 6 months. Others may take longer.
Hope this helps.
