Basically, sometimes there is a "herd" mentality around HSX...
When news comes up about a movie that's starting production...many players jump on it, and you can go along for the ride (up) in price... but in reality, it may fall back in price the next day (sometimes NOT, too!). This is similar to what may happen to some IPO's... they rise in price for a day, or two, but then MAY fall back (depending on the IPO, of course). You can take advantage of these times knowing that many players will buy these stocks, and if you have the right timing, you can "play the players" knowing what the outcome may be.
There are times when DMac may post some news on Movies Board about a movie, or director, star, etc., and prices will rise or fall on those things based simply on DMac's post... if you can see that trend, then you may be able to capitalize on it. Various news events about movies will create activity for stock prices here...and you can short them, or long them depending on 'what' that news is. Maybe a big director pulled out of a blockbuster movie, so the price may drop... if you play the players, you can realize that...and look for opportunities.
Some stocks rise or fall for no reason... and daytrading has a lot to do with it..so if you play those rises, or falls with the players, you can make some $$ anticipating the news, etc...but daytrading is tricky, and requires time to get the 'ebb and flow' of the market.
